Groove file synchronization

Hi, I have been invited to a workspace on groove and although the space has
downloaded to my computer all the files have and extension of gfs and i am
unable to download them by clicking on them. It just freeezes the computer.
I select the automatic download option so that all files would be down loaded
and not just the links to files. Can anyone suggest why this might be
happening

I should also add that I am running groove 2007 with office 2003. I think
that two of the other 4 members of my workspace are running groove 3.1. I
have marked the box which allows me to sync with older versions of groove
files.
