Groove Folder 2007

Hi,

I've recently installed Office 07 Enterprise version and stumbled across
Groove Folder more out of curiousity than anything else. In theory, it looks
like something i'd love to use to keep up with people as i'm on the move...
and not having any kind of VPN setup at our office.

Having done a bit of searching on t'internet, i've read about the tools you
can use in Groove - the one that REALLY would be useful to me is the Calender
tool, but i cant seem to add any tools in. I've Googled various things and
all i get is 'click new, tool, calender' - but i have no 'New---Tools' option.

Can someone help?

Thanks
David

Have you created a workspace? Once in the workspace then you can access
File>>New>>Tool>>Calendar. You can't get to New>>Tool from the Launch Bar.

Hi Laura,

Yep, I've set up a new workspace, but i dont have a menu bar at the top of
the screen. 'Right click, new' brings up the normal right click menu you get
in explorer.

It's the full enterprise version of office and i installed all software to
run from the computer

To add new things to the workspace there should be an icon in the bottom
right corner which will allow you to add tools to the existing workspace.

Give that a try!

Hi Justin - nope, no icon in the Workspace window.

Do you mean the Groove icon in the Windows System Icons area (byt the
clock)? When i right click on that and get some options up, 'preferences'
was one option, but there was nothing in there.

I dont have a menu list in the workspace area, is this right?

David,

In the Groove UI - see:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/53/GrooveSShot.PNG

on the bottom, just to the left of the "Invite my other comput..." there
is a piece of paper with a + icon on it and a down arrow just to the
right of it. That adds tools to the workspace. If you click on it, the
menu should cascade upwards with all of the tools, one of which is
calendar. To get to this, simply double click the workspace in the
groove manager (which you get to by double clicking on the system tray
icon you are talking about below).

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,

Justin

Hi guys - nope, as i mentioned earlier, i dont have a file menu bar - i have
no menu bars at all. Which is odd.

Also - the picture on wikimedia shows a totally different layout to the
version i have. Mine is the install from Office 2007 Enterprise - which is
this?

Is there anyway of uploading a picture to show you what i see in my workspace?

Not to this group. If you have webspace available from your ISP you could
upload a file there and post a link to the screenshot.

I think you are in windows explorer using Groove's folder sync function and
not in an actual "workspace".

Open your Groove launch bar and double click on your workspace from there.
Now you should have the menu options needed to access tools.

There was a discussion on this board earlier in the month titled "Confusion
on File Sharing and Workspaces". This might help explain the differences for
you and points out that tools are only available while using Workspaces.

nope - still goes to the same window.

I'll have a look at the other discussion and see if i can get any joy there.

Thanks for all your help

BRILLIANT!!

i thought it'd be simple - i needed to set up a standard space rather than a
file sharing - sorted.... for the time being at the very least

thank you
