Groove on new laptop - all workspaces not coming over.

W

Wayne Small

I've just setup groove on a new laptop of mine. I've imported my account
into it and now I've told it to go grab all my workspaces. After 2 weeks
now, it still has some of them as downloading. Also - it's not seeing all
the workspaces I had on the old laptop. What can I do to troubleshoot /
resolve this please?

Hi Wayne,

- Did you use a recent backup of your Groove account to setup Groove on
the new laptop? (= recommended)

- Is Groove still up and running on your old laptop? This should ease
transfer. If synchronization is blocked (no upload nor download
activity) try to cancel and re-initialize the downloading.

- In case you do not dispose anymore of your old laptop, are your
workspaces shared with other members? Please note that data is not
stored on a central server and that you get workspaces from your own or
workspace members' PCs.
Best performance when both PCs / users remain connected during the
entire transfer process.

- Did you archive your workspaces? (manually or automatically by using a
third party tool...) This is the only option in case you did not share
the workspace and your old laptop has been recycled...

- Size of workspaces? Groove cannot send a workspace that exceeds 2GB.

Hope this helps.

Jan Talens

Wayne,

In order to fetch spaces, you will need to have the computer on, running
Groove, and connected to the network in order to grab copies of sapces off
that computer. Also, if you are not seeing spaces in your account that you
know you should be seeing, then that means that the backup file from your
account was made prior to your having those spaces. So 2 important things:

1. Have the original computer runnning when fetching spaces
2. Use the most recent account file possible

groove on new computer - all workspaces not coming over
I months ago got my wife a netbook and made it as my other computer only got
one workspace to download. Using it for librarty seacrch on genealogy. My
other computer is drying as part of it works and parts do not work. so wife
got this senior citizen a new computer and I install windows ultimate it has
windows 7 os. said on groove this would be my other computer. and this new
computer will not download any workspaces. my old computer I use a modem to
use it. The netbook is wireless.
If wanting to use new computer I have to disconnect the old computer from
modem and reestablished network connection to use it. Tried to download one
workspace which is on netbook which uses wireless internet connection. And i
have netbook on using wireless in the workspave and new computer using modem
and it says get workspace and I tried and workspace does not download.
