Srob

We are a small group and yesterday I tried to invite one of my co-workers who
uses a 64 bit OS, he tried to respond to my invitation and it did not work
and since then I have not been able to get it synced.. Is there any help
available for free or do I need to move to a different system..

We found and resolved an issue that was affecting some Relay queues. Please

I am new to Groove but having troubles inviting a coworker to a standard
workspace I created. Others at my company are having issues. Are you sure
the server issues are resolved?

One problem was found and resolved. So far that's confirmed to have helped
one customer that I'm sure was experiencing a Relay problem. There are lots
of things that can affect invitations working, though, most of them not at
the Relay end. What exactly is happening in your case? If you hover over the
Groove icon in the notification area, you should see the invitation status,
if the invitation process hasn't been completed yet.

Here's what I see:

Several "Inviting [coworker]: Sent, waiting for delivery"
and several "Message to [coworker]: Send, waiting for delivery"

This coworker is in another city. I am checking to see if he is online
right this minute. We tried several times yesterday to make this work and
couldn't. I have been able to share this same workspace with one other
person in my same location today.

Looks like there has been some resolution, as I saw the messages being
delivered. If MS wants this product to do well, there should be faster
resolution for issues that are server related.. Is there another product that
we should look into that will be more robust and not cause loss of
productivity. BTW we loved Groove after we discovered it recently until
yesterday... Your feedback was appreciated. Thanks

First, try having the coworker who is not getting your messages try sending
you a message and see if you receive it. If you do, the problem may be your
connection to the coworker's Relay, that Relay itself, or the contact
information that your Groove installation has for the coworker. Because of
the earlier Relay outtage, it may also be a good idea for both of you to stop
and restart Groove, just to quickly refresh presence data.

Is this coworker able to communicate with other Groove users?

The problem with the server (#5) has not been resolved - my co-worker who had
the problems that I reported on 30/9 ( Not receiving messages or updates, not
showing online ) came back briefly but is now disconnected again. This is
severely impacting the credibility of the tool, which has only just been
launched within this community. Are these servers not actively monitored by
Microsoft and/or can some resilience not be built in?

,Further to my last post, we now have a new user who is also connected to the
server #5 and so cannot receive invitations etc. and appears offline. This is
very difficult to work with as it is a very poor introduction to the product
- is there a way that a user's 'nominated' relay server can be changed once
they are registered?

Everything is working now, a question to the longtime users - how often does
this outage happens...

Does MS have any plan to provide better service...

That is odd..... we are still finding problems with the relay server! In
answer to your question, we have been using Groove for about 6 months and
this is the 1st time that we have noticed anything - would be interesting to
hear from others though.

Other users on bluegro5 have reported that connections are now working. You
may have some other problem with this user. Relay problems are not the only
thing that cause connection issues.

For example, you say that this person is new. Are they new to your
organization as well? Sometimes we see problems with companies that decide to
create a computer install image with Groove on it. If the person creating the
image starts Groove before the image is created, then the computers that use
that image all appear to be the same machine, leading to little or no
connectivity to the individual users.

That is just one possible cause. At this point, your best bet is probably to
open a support case at
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&ln=en-us&c1=505&gprid=11630&st=1.

The Relay server cannot be changed, unless you host your own Relay and
Management servers.

I am fairly certain that this is still a relay server issue since we had two
co-workers with issues - one new and one existing user - and both were on
bluegro5. Since my postings they have indeed started working, but they have
done this before and then have failed again so my fear is that this is an
intermitttent fault, which seems to get resolved in US working hours but can
be unstable outside US working hours (we are based in UK).

I think that raising a support case would cost? The organisation that is
(trying) to use Groove is a charity and would find it difficult to fund
anything like this.

I am hopeful that MS will be able to provide a more stable service in the
not too distant future....... it was working great until about a week ago.
