[Group] label in Excel file name

C

Ctrl-Alt-Del

When a user opens a file (on a shared folder), she sometimes gets the
filename displayed with the label [Group] after it. When this happens, she
has trouble saving changes. I'm assuming that more than one person has the
file open(?). I'm used to getting a Read-Only option if attempting to open a
file another user has open. Anybody have any insight to the [Group] label
thing? Didn't see it in KB.

When you see [Group] in the title bar that means you have grouped
worksheets. They can be grouped by holding Shift and clicking on another
worksheet tab, right-clicking a tab and clicking Select All Sheets, amongst
other methods. When worksheets are grouped any changes made to one worksheet
are made in all grouped worksheets. This can be useful or it can result in
lost data. For example if you add or modify an entry in cell B2 then the
same change will be made in B2 in all grouped sheets. To ungroup worksheets,
right-click a worksheet tab in the group and click Ungroup Sheets.

As for why the user is having problems saving the file, is she encountering
an error message? If so, what is the error message? If not, can you expand
on what you mean by "having trouble saving changes" and include the version
of Excel you are using?
