Group Policy: Disabling Recently Edited Files List

Hi all --

We are having some difficulties with Group Policy and a Word 2003 setting. I find it hard to believe we are the only ones having this problem, but I am coming up empty on a Google search.

Here are my environment details:

Windows XP, SP2
MS Office 2003, SP2
Machines are domain memebers
Office 2003, SP2 version ADM Templates loaded
-- NOTE: SP3 ADM templates were tested also with the same result.
All settings that we have configured in Group Policies are being applied EXCEPT for Word's Recently Used File List
Tools > Options
General Tab

We want to DISABLE this setting so it is grayed out, but the policy does not work. From the ADM file, I got the registry entry and applied it manually. It *still* doesn't work, which leads me to believe two things:

1) For some reason, that policy is not getting applied at all; and
2) Even if the setting did get applied via Group Policy, it *still* wouldn't work.

CONCLUSIONS: The setting is wrong in the ADM file and/or Word isn't looking at that setting in the registry when it opens.

Here is a registry export of the setting, per the ADM template:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options\vpref]
"cFilesMRU_32_4"=dword:00000000

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
