Group text box with table

I'm trying to group a text box with a table so when I move
a table the text box comes with it. I swear I was able to
do this in Word 2000 but I can't seem to get it to work in
Word XP. Suggestions?

I do not think you were able to do that in any version of Word as a table is
not an object and a text box is an object (i.e. it has an anchor). Only
objects on the drawing layer can be grouped (if you mean the "Group" option
that is available when you select two shapes or more and then right-click on
one of them). At least, this has been my experience.

If your table was in a textbox of its own, then you could group the table
(in the text box) and another text box.

Where is the text box in relation to the table? If it is inside a cell, make
sure the text box anchor is in the cell as well (not outside the table).
Click on ¶ to display the anchors.
If the text box is outside the table, it can be tricky to make sure that the
anchor is always in one of the cell. Place the anchor inside a cell, open
the text box property dialog, go to the Wrap tab, check the Lock Anchor
setting in the advanced section., close the dialog. Now you can move the
table or the text box and the anchor will always stay inside the table, in
other words, the text box will follow the table if the latter moves around
on the page.
