grouping option grayed out...

I have grouped images on a slide. When I select the group, the group/ungroup
options are grayed out. How can I ungroup these images? The slide also has
animations--could that be the problem? Thanks,

Hey Alex,

The problem is that one or more of the objects is a placeholder. These can
not be grouped.

You can select it, then paste it back. The delete the placeholder
(original) and you should be able to group again. Don't forget to check on
your animations, they may have been scrambled by this process.

I tried all the advice, and I am still not able to group or ungroup anything.
