Groups of numbers

I want take a column of numbers and split them equally into two other
columns that are as equal in value as possible.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but would dividing by 2 work?

If your original value is in cell A1, then enter this formula in both B1 and
C1.

=A1/2
