Groupwise & Sendobject???

Is it possible to use sendobject to send and email in access via groupwise.

I have a database which was developed on a system using outlook as the
client however when transferred to a system using groupwise it does not send
emails, it attempts to open outlook (which sometimes opens but does not
populate the fields)

I have searched this site and have found some people who have got sendobject
to work, but their examples are no different to mine.

Is there not a way to send emails that is sepperate to the type of email
client used???
