Grrrrrr on the Indicators...

MD

I am simply trying to automate the Graphical Indicators for project status.
Baseline vs. Actual... Green, Yellow, Red... That simple. Yellow = 10% -
20% off and Red at greater than 20%.

I have created an enterprise custom field in PWA. Set Entity to Project,
Type to Text. Tried several formulas that I have found and along with
assigning graphical indicators to the statuses above. I add it to the
project tracking view. They do not appear in PWA project center. I had done
this before in Project Server 2003 but can't recall how.

HELP!!!! hehehe

Hi MD,

The best way to try this is by creating the custom field and formula from
scratch in Project Professional. When you've got the formula and graphical
indicators right then cut and paste it into the ECF within PWA.

MD, ensure that the formula is correct as Ben suggested. If you want the
traffic light to be displayed in the Project Center you will need to include
them into the Project Center views ( Server Settings > Manage Views). Once
you have added the custom fields, they still appear empty until you
re-publish a project. Onc eyou replublised a project the traffic light should
appear for this project.
Hope this helps

Is this formula you are working with a task level field or a project level
field?

Often, I create a task level field with the formula I find to work in
Project Professional. Once I am happy with it and the graphical indicators
work, I make sure the summary rollup for that task level custom field is
"Formula". Then I create a project level field where the formula is simply
equal to the name of the task level field (this will show whatever is
displayed in Task level 0 for the project). I set the graphical indicators
on the project custom field to be the same as the task level custom field
and that works.

Hope this helps.
