Had to downgrade to 2002 from 2003. Send/Receive error.

I tried to upgrade to Office 2003 and that wrecked all
applications other than Outlook (i.e. I couldn't open
Word, Excel... files anymore). In an effort to get back
to where I started from, I uninstalled 2003 and
reinstalled Office 2002 (XP). Now all other apps work
fine, but my Outlook gives me a short and sweet error
everytime I click Send/Receive ("The operation failed.").
Any advice on how to nip this one in the bud?

....now I know why THEY say never upgrade unless it's
totally necessary.
