Handheld devices

I don't know if I imagined this but it seems to me that I saw a
Powerpoint presentation once where instead of entering the commands for
the slide show directly onto his laptop (he was projecting through a
data projector his presentation on to a screen) the presenter held a
handheld device and entered his commands there. I can't remember
whether it was wireless but it obviously was giving commands to his
laptop.

So: did I imagine this? Of does such a device exist where one does not
have to sit at one's laptop when giving a Powerpoint presentation but
can remotely control the slides?

If so, what is such a device called?

Yes, you can view an example product at:

Note that I don't endorse this product or the vendor; I just did a quick
search, and this was one of the first things that came up, but the site will
give you an idea of some of the capabilities of this kind of product.
