handout problem printing from Powerpoint

I have an HP printer 1280 and Powerpoint 2007. When I try to print out
handouts (3 to a page) no lines print by the side of the slides though they
are clearly shown as there in print preview.
No lines show however when I go to View/Handout Master.

How do I overcome the issue?
