Handwriting to Text Convertion

Andre Martins

Hi, I'm new to Onenote and Handwriting so please bear with me.

I just bought a Bamboo tablet for my notebook. I can write on onenote, but
when I select the text and ask to convert it to text nothing happens. I'm not
sure what I'm doing wrong.

I'm using onenote 2007 on a XP sp2 machine.

Thanks for your sugestions

The handwriting conversion feature requires a Tablet PC. Only the Tablet
PC OS (which is only available from HW manufacturers when you buy a Tablet
PC) has the specific software which is used by OneNote for HW conversion.

They have changed this with Vista - some versions of Vista [1] contain the
Tablet PC software and you can use an external digitizer tablet in OneNote.

[1] Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista
Ultimate.

You need to be sure you have selected Tools|Treat Selected Ink
As|Handwriting. Then Tools|Convert Handwriting to Text. That works for me
from my AIPTEK Slim tablet.

That is usually a function of your Windows settings.

Kind of a long shot, but try this:

Start Button/Settings/Control Panel, then "Regional & Languag Options", then
the "Language Settings" Tab, "Details" button in the "Text Services..."
Section at the top, then "Advanced" Tab... The "Extend Services..." section
box should be checked (this is for Windows XP, not sure about Vista)...

Sorry, Willie. I had a similar problem and it was actually a windows problem
and not a one note problem. I'd focus there for your hunt for a solution.
Good Luck!
