At least to everyone that celebrates them. I hope everyone enjoys their time
with their families and friends. Remember to stay warm, be safe, and enjoy
yourselves.

I want to say an extra prayer for Mike's son and hope that he finds the
holidays safe and I hope for a safe return.

Cheers!

I think everyone celebrates them regardless of what religion they are. I
always join in other religious celebrations even when they are not mine. It
is all about tolerance and good tidings and wishes to your fellow homo
sapiens.

Please take care, DO NOT drink and drive, and see if you can do a good deed
to somebody not as fortunate as you are.

Best wishes and sincere regards to all.

Brian,

Thanks a ton for the sentiments. It will be strange with him missing,
after 20 years one gets use to him being a part. I'm going to call he
Christmas Eve (Christmas day for him) if we can work out the timing.

The very best of wishes from all of us to you and to the others who
frequent these NGs.

Mike first year without my one and only daughter.
She is in Scotland for Christmas this year, and then starts work teaching on
January 5th in a brand new high school in Blitisher land.

Best regards to all, and I had better apologise for winding a few up over
the past few months - hopefully nobody thinks I believe all that - some yes,
but definitely not all.

JoAnn, you need to remember dear, the world does not stop at the US borders.
Other countries in the world are having a beautiful summer.
It is a gorgeous 25C/77F and beautiful blue skies with not a cloud in sight.

JoAnn,

My son, who is serving in the Navy, had to go on maneuvers last night.
After drinking mass amounts of liquids, he had to do in-water and
underwater aquatics in waters known to be inhabited by barracudas and
sharks, though his group tried to stay closer to shore. Then, it was
time for physical training in the natural environs, having to spend a
couple hours jumping, running and working on hand to eye coordination.
Fortunately, the conditioners were not frigid and he survived, though he
mentioned something about having a headache this morning and having to
work on Christmas under similar adverse circumstances. Often, he and his
shipmates have to scrounge for food and prepare it on primitive outdoor
facilities, battling the elements. I'm planning on calling him in an
hour or so, just to see how he is surviving.

Merry Christmas,

Mike

Jo Ann,

Before you start feeling too sorry for Shaun, a translation.

He was invited to a party mostly for officers (he's at the bottom of the
rankings) where they drank lots of beer. Then, they went swimming in the
ocean, came back to shore and had a huge game of volleyball.

His job and duties are important, but it is not like being stationed in
a desert, having to worry about incoming mortar fire or suicide bombers.
He was assigned this deployment. Except for the deprivations, it's Eden.

While Shaun is living in relative safety and having fun, don't forget
all those other men and women from many countries around the world who
are serving to make the earth a little bit safer place to live.

JoAnn you could always have slipped across the pond for Christmas. They
were offering return fares from Sydney to Los Angles for $AU1,1299 which is
for nothing. You could have used some of your spare money in your money
box.
