Hardware needed to run MS Project Server 2002

Hello!

I need information about which parts of a server, MS
Project Server 2002 will use most. For my organisation I
want to perchase a server that meets all the demands. MS
Project server 2002 will be used (in the beginning) by 50
professional ms project clients and 300 web access clients.

Can somebody tell me (with these user numbers in mind)
what kind of hardware / setup I need? perhaps you can give
me information about 1 versus 2 processors, raid
configuration 0+1 or 5? (does MS Project Server 2002 do a
lot of reading actions or write actions), how does MS
Project Server 2002 use internal memory (how much internal
memory is needed). And very important... if user numbers
increase in the (near) future, which part of the server is
most likely to become a bottleneck if we talk about
performance? The processor, the internal memory, the speed
of the internal discs (raid configuration) or something
else?

Information I can give you in front: the MS Project
database will be placed on a different server and the MS
Project Server will be switched with a networkcard on 100
MB full duplex. Allmost every user will access the server
from the internal company network. We will not use MS
Project sharepoint teamservices.

Many thanx in advance for your reaction(s).

Peter:

A dual processor machine with a good current chipset and 2 gig of RAM should
suit you fine. The most likely bottleneck to occur is between the Project
Server box and the Database Server. Adding nic cards in full-duplex mode is
the first improvement you can make. Isolating network segments is the next
step.
