Hardware question

I have installed (for instructors), project/server 2002 on PIII laptops
and desktops. For demonstration, since they don't actually handle a ton
of users, its adequate.

I will be setting up a new 2003 server for these guys and they are
buying a new pc for it (windows server, project server office, project,
sql server, iis)

Question: is it better for them to invest in a high end processor or
slower but dual processor, any recommendations?

TIA

It would depend on how many of them there are and what kind of projects
they have and how they plan on using the tool.

Check out the www.microsoft.com/downloads page. Search for
"Configuration Planning Guide". This doc will help you understand some
of the scaling options. Post back here if you have further questions
though.

I guess I wasn't clear, this setup is for one user in a teaching
scenario. A teacher/student wears different hats during exercises, e.g.
"project Manger" "OLAP administrator". They may have Project and several
PWA windows open but there is only one real user per system, e.g. an
exercise were one person wears several hats acting out several users at
once.

We did this with PIII/450s with 512/768 MB ram, or on laptops with less.
It is slow mainly when updating information involves all the servers,
that's why I think a dual slow processor whould be better than one
kickass processor
