Has office 2000 sr-1 become unavailable?

For a few weeks, I have tried to update my installation to sr 1. The core
update program installs, shows the EULA but when the installation box shows
the download, it immediately shows "update did not complete successfully" see
log file setup(0005)txt. ...where?
has anyone else had similar probs?

Office 2000 has been discontinued along with the SR-1 update . Microsoft pulled the
plug on all downloads on everything concerning Office 2000 and on all SP's inc. SR 1
on Sept 09 2009 on account of the agreement between MS and Sun.

When you did the update, did you download the updater to your PC and run from
there or did you try to run it from the server? You should ALWAYS download to
your own PC.

You should be able to get it here:

ab96-795ee656f2a2&displaylang=en>

If that's what you've already done, use windows Explorer's search feature to try
to locate the log file mentioned.

LOL. Have you tried that link yet. It will download the 165kb file needed to install
the SR-1. But that is all you are able to do. You get a nice 165kb file worth
nothing.

Again . MS discontinued all downloads for SP's for Office 2000. NOT available
anymore

I've downloaded the 165kb file but can't test further than that ... I've still got 2000
installed on a VM but it's already updated to SR1.

Some of the updaters and other "downloads" are not actually the files themselves but
little apps that test for needed components/qualifying installed software and only then
download the actual update files.

It's possible (granted, not *likely*) that this li'l download is one of those.

With luck the OP who needs the update will give it a try and let us know.
