Gurus,

Have any of you successfully setup Entourage mail client for Mac to connect
to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003? I have a client who has a smattering of
these clients and while they all can connect successfully, read and send
email, none can connect to the address book. They get an LDAP error
whenever they try. Someone said I need to specify the address of a Global
Catalog server. In what form do I specify that, full LDAP name or would an
IP address suffice? The reason I ask is because these Entourage clients are
connecting to Outlook Web Access, and the Global Catalog server is part of
the internal network.

You do want to connect to a Global Catalog server on your company
network. You should simply be able to specify the server address as
something like:

server.domain.com

and you can more than likely leave the Search base empty. You can also
specify the IP address if you prefer but that's not recommended.

However, if your company requires a Search base then you'll need to get
this from your Active Directory administrator.

If your Macs are not on the same network as your Global Catalog server
then they cannot use it and cannot browse the Global Address List. I
have a script that will allow for searches when connected to an OWA server.

FYI, the "microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage" newsgroup has been
deprecated and replaced with microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage. Be
sure to post any further questions in that group rather than
"microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage".

Hope this helps!
