The Office 2000 CD must be an upgrade version that requires qualifying
software.. Office 97 can't be installed without an Office 97 CD being
available.. not surprisingly, this applies to other software as well, other
than officially free or shareware stuff that can be downloaded via the
internet..

Options are few and all revolve around purchasing MS Office..

yep

hi,,,,,

I received an email from a friend this morning and as a friend I am going
to try to help....... I posted in another group and they linked me here.

Here is the mail I received::::::

"I have a question for you. If someone wants to unistall Word 97 from their
computer but don't have the disk for it, how do they do that. They are
running with XP and when trying to unistall through add/ remove programs
they are prompted to insert the disk for Word 97 which they don't have.
They have Office 2000 on CD which we tried to install but wouldn't work as I
guess you need to unistall word 97? I couldn't find any other 97 programs to
remove to I guess its just that. "

Its not my area of expertise so I can only hope someone here
can assist with an answer.

cheers
...Rex..
