have letter saved on disk had to clean relaod need letter now

computers suck

computer had a virus-- so it was cleaned out-- I took a letter
needed for school save it to disk so I could get emergency info out
quickly. Update it take off names and add new ones... I can not
open it get error message and it needs to convert -- I browse get
another error message.. Help--- I need phone numbers off this.....

One of two possibilities:

You had a virus that destroyed the innards of all the Office files.
You saved the file to a floppy disk or other removable media and corrupted
it (NEVER save to removable media, always save to the local HDD and then
COPY to rem media).

Either way, you should try to open the document using Open and Repair, try
opening it in WordPad or use the Recover text from any file option.
