I found recently in attempting to start Word that I could not get it to
launch. I then brought up Task Manager and found an instance of Winword.exe
running even though there was no splash screen or other visible sign that it
was running. I was able to kill the task which then allowed me to start it.
I also found that in some cases closing open IE windows allowed me to start
Word after an unsuccessful prior attempt.
This seems truly bizarre. Can anyone suggest how I might fix it?
