Having problems automatically recording items in Journal

I've read the Outlook Help article, "About recording information in Journal"
and setup OL to automatically record via Options\Journal Options and checking
the items and files to record.

From here, I've been trying to find out how and where these items are
recorded, i.e. Do I get notifications that records are being stored? How do
I see them?

I haven't found any examples or tutorials as to how this mechanism works or
how to use it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
