Having Problems with EVA Calculations

E

Elizabeth

I've followed the instructions on the online help to get earned value
calculations, but all the calcs show as 0. What am I doing wrong?

Yes. But do I have to save a baseline each time before I run the calcs?
That doesn't make sense to me. Why does that have to be done?

Hi Elizabeth,

No, you don't need to save a baseline each time. A couple of more things to
check (pardon me if you have done these already.)
* Are there resources assigned to the tasks?
* Do the resources have costs (Standard & Overtime rates)?
*Have you supplied tracking information?
*What is your status date?

Thanks for the reply. Resources & costs = yes, status date changed to 2/28
(the date I want to report through), not sure what the "tracking information"
is. Do you mean actuals/%complete? If so, then Yes.

Once I went back and saved a new baseline, I got the calculations just fine.
But I don't want to rebaseline every time I run the EV calcs. That actually
makes some of the calcuations useless. Is there something else I'm missing?

Hello Elizabeth,
If you got the calculations OK after a second Baseline, that means that the
first one was not "valid" : I means that may be you saved the first baseline
*before* assigning resources, or before setting costs for resources....
Nevertheless, don't save a new baseline every week ;-)
