Header /Footer background color

I want to format the background color of my headers and footers. (Just
one background color per document, not a rainbow of colors). I can
change the text color but I have not figured out how to change the
background.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Hi,

with your cursor in the header/footer, click on Format>Borders and Shading.
Click on the Shading tab, select the colour you'd like to use, then hit OK.

background.

The way I'd do it:

Chose Format/Style... Select the "Header" style. Click Modify. Choose
Border... from the Format dropdown. In the Shading pane of the Borders
and Shading dialog, choose your preferred color. Set the Font color the
same way.

Do the same with Footer style.

If you use different styles for your headers and footers, format them to
suit.
