Header/Footer markings... can't get rid of them!! Help!?!

NEED HELP!! For some reason, little markings are showing
up on my documents. These markings are pseudo-borders
that outline where the header stops and the body of the
document starts. At the top are two shapes:"_| |_"
They also appear on the bottom by the footer. HOW DO I
REMOVE THIS TAGS!?!?!?! Please help, I'm desparate!
