Header Height

The Header Height on my Word document is covering the
entire table and its text on the page. When I try to
adjust the header height using the verticle ruler, the
height simply won't adjust. Do you know what to do?

Check the vertical alignment in the page layout. If it is anything other
than "top" change it to "top."

Thanks, Charles. The Vertical Alignment is set to "top,"
but the problem persists.

The other interesting thing is that there are no inserted
page breaks or section breaks, yet the header on Page 1
is fine; it's page 2 through the end of the document
where the header covers the entire page.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Make sure you haven't added extra empty paragraphs to the header or added
Space After to the header paragraph.

Charles - THANK YOU! I wasted so much time attempting to change the header
on one page of a 33 page document. That header took up 4 inches and no
matter how many things I tried it just would not change. After taking your
advice - the whole document lined up perfectly.

I have another problem - this same document is a manual with titles and
subtitles, which I attempted to set up before I typed it in Bullets &
Numbering, Outline. There was no outline I liked so I "customized" it. That
worked fine as long as I did not want any spaces between subjects. As soon
as I double spaced - the outline disappeared. So I ended up hand formatting
every line. I would like to know for the future how to handle this. Thanks
for your help if you are able to help me. Bonnie
