Headers & footers ? Office 2003 Word

I have a strenge one, For some reason that I am unaware of word has stopped diplaying the top and bottom on the document when creating a new blank doc. but fine if I open an old doc. If I goto Headers & Footer then close the problem is fixed !... I have tried re-writing the Normal.dot… no joy page setup save default…. No joy.

I know this is not the end of life as we know it… but it is close and hell, it’s annoying !

Anyone no what the problem is.

Tools | Options | View: White space between pages. You toggle this on and
off by hovering over the edge of the page (you get a ScreenTip "Hide White
Space" or "Show White Space") and clicking.
