hello everyone, what exactly is the point of this newsgroup thing?
Newsgroups are sort of like a public discussion forum, or a bulletin board
where anyone can post messages or questions. This particular newsgroup
(microsoft.public.access) is hosted by Microsoft, as a Public group (there are
private ones as well), for questions about the program called Microsoft
Access.
There are tens of thousands of different newsgroups, covering subjects of
amazing diversity, from software to sewing to beer to sports. Some are
dormant; some are overrun with spammers and trolls; some are serious, some are
fun, some (like this one) are technical and businesslike.
If you have questions about the design of Microsoft Access databases... ask
away. If you have other interests, search the groups list (on Outlook Express,
or on
http://groups.google.com, or on your news server's service) for ones
that look interesting.
