Help Adding a caption to a picture

Joe Chambers

Hello,

I have a quick question. I want to add a caption to a picture that I have
in a word document. If I choose "Insert | Caption...", I'm limited as to
what I can do and I'm not allowed to do what I actually would like to do.
I'd like to put the caption/comment running up the right side of the picture
with no "Figure 1 - " type label.

Does any one have any suggestion on how to do this with MS Word 2000?
Thanks in advance.....!

Joe, take a page out of the web page designers' handbook and use a table.
Create a two-cell table. Put your picture in the left cell, and your caption
in the right. Bring up the tables and borders toolbar (View > Toolbars) and
use the Change Text Direction button to get your caption running up the
right side of the picture. Drag the table borders to size the table to your
requirements. Bring up the table properties (Table > Table Properties) and
set the alignment and text wrapping as you desire. And Format > Borders and
Shading will take care of the table borders.
