HELP! All ppts now opening as read only then converting to adobe!

Hi,

All of a sudden, every time I open a ppt (even those I have created from
scratch), it will open, but there is a black slash through the slide. The
title then automatically changes to [READ ONLY], and adobe acrobat 8 opens,
and it converts to a pdf of the slides. I can't now click on or modify the
ppt slides.

I am running XP SP2
Office 2003/PPT 2003
Adobe Acrobat 8 (full, not pro)

This is a huge crisis - any help would be appreciated!

How are you opening the files? If you're double-clicking in a window, then
it may just be that your file association for PPT got set to Acrobat. If
that's the case, then this FAQ should help you fix it:

Ok, well, it took some deep breathing, but I fixed it myself. I'll explain
the fix in case others run into it. Someone had sent me a ppt with a property
that it was set
to open with adobe acrobat reader. When I opened it, it appears that it
changed my settings to make all ppt files open with adode. I just
right-clicked on the offending ppt and selected properties, then changed
"open with" back to ppt. All is ok now. Weird function to change all ppts
though...
