I'm having the same sort of problem. I can not access Word etc except in
safe mode. When I try to open the program in the usual manner it hangs, and
when I try to use application recovery it rarely works. In fact the
application recovery feature itself often hangs after several minutes of
trying, un-successfully trying to recovery the desired program. I have tried
to use the application "fix" option, and I have tried to use system restore
to bring my computer back to an earlier state with no sucess.
