help can't connect to ms project server 03

Hi,

I try to connect from a workstation running microsoft
project pro 2003 to a server running microsoft project
server 2003 using an ms project account but it fails
everytime. The error reads: "access is denied".

Also if I try to connect using web access by going to the
http://servername/projectserver url I always get prompted
for a username and password. Is this normal behavior?
Once I enter a windows username and password that exists
on the standalone projectserver, it lets me through. I
am then able to access the projectserver management page
since the windows account I entered is also a user in
projectserver.

Thanks,
Aaron

Hi Aaron!

You need to log on either as Administrator or a project member permission.
If you want to log on from Project to the Project Server to publish a
Project you have to set the connection information for the Server.

Hi Alexander,

Could you clarify where I set the connection information for the server?
Are you talking about the office account server accounts icon where you set
the username, url, choose between and windows and project account? If so I
have done that. I tried using the administrator project user name which is
the user with full access to the project server but I still get the error
"access is denied" when I try to connect using project pro. If I login from
the server console using web access I can login without a problem using all
of my ms project server accounts.

So it seems I have three areas with problems.
1) I can't login using web access and a project account unless I login from
the server console.
2) I can login using web access from a workstation with a windows account
but I get prompted for a username and password (pop up box)
2) I can't login using ms project pro to connect to ms project server using
a project or windows account.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Aaron

Aaron:

Make sure Anonymous access is granted on the Project Server virtual
directory in IIS.
