Help changing a rule, please?

E

Ed

In Outlook 2003, I created a rule to have a list of newly received emails
using the instructions on Robert Sparnaaij's "How To-Outlook" web site at
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/mailalert2003.htm#view_list. The list
works great, and is good for what I need.

I'd like to modify this slightly to not alert for Out Of Office
notifications and Send Mail / Read Mail receipts. I am very
"OL-challenged", though, and can't seem to work out how to change the rule.
If anyone can help me here, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

You can set exceptions on the rule;
Doubleclick on the rule to modify it and press next until you reach the
exceptions step. Here select "Except if it is an Out of Office message"

Receipts are a bit trickier but you can use the "except if the subject (or
body) contains specific words" to catch those.

Thanks for the quick reply, Roady. The exceptions come up as "or". Is it
possible to make them "and"? For instance:
except if the subject contains "Delivered: " or "Read: " AND
if the body contains "was read on "

Right now that comes up as
except if the subject contains "Delivered: " or "Read: " OR
if the body contains "was read on "

That is only possible when you create a separate rule turn around the rule;
Apply this rule after the message arrives
with specific words in subject
and with specific words in body
action: stop processions rules

Make sure you put that rule before the show notification rule.
