HELP! Clean upgrade to WinXP - Outlook2000 can't import data!

Ugh... a bit of a mess - kind of an emergancy thou

Story: Having problems with PC using Windows98se, many little
things... both hardware and software related. Reloaded Windows -
resolved hardware issues - but Win98 was apparently the software
problem.

Did a Clean install of WinXP Pro on computer, proceeded to move data
files onto the the main hard drive. Installed software (Office2000,
etc)

Problem: The original outlook PST files are NOT working correctly with
Outlook2000 under XP. The data is good (I have 3 backups of it).

When needed to replace a damage or transfer the outloo.pst file, it
was enough to simple COPY the file to to or over the C:/windows under
Windows98.

Fact: Original PST has 1250 contacts, 2years of (NEEDED) calander,
TO-DO List (about 40 items).

I replaced the NEW PST file that was made with the new WinXP/O2K, but
the results are useless.

I copied the ORG PST file to : Docs & settings/<name>/Local
Settigns/Application Data/Microsoftt/Outlook

Start Outlook2000, it doesnt see the PST file or
there is an ERROR about shortbuts... The contact list says there are
1285 (gained 40 - I guess these are deleted contacts), the Calander is
empty - execpt for 1 junk listing and the TASkS are also empty!!

ARRGHHHHHHH!!

On another user account (I using an accounts to play with this) - I
used the PocketPC which has the data... I synced the system and got
the 1250 contacts, the To-DO/Tasks lists and the calander... but the
Calander is INCOMPLETE! Its only goes into the PAST for 2 months
(default for a PocketPC unit) We're missing over a year of calander
data!

This appears to have worked well - other than the CALENDER...

In a BACKUP folder, I have copied pretty much every outlook file I can
find from the original Windows Setup...

I've tried IMPORTING - which is a pain, it either completely FAILS the
whole thing (usually) or only gets the CONTact LISTS Only, which is
now growing and growing - but no, nothing usable in the Calender.

COnsidering that Office2000 came out about the time of Windows2000
(which functions the same way as WindowsXP) - I would think that this
would be a NON issue

I only have so much hair remaing...

Please help, I've spent over 7 hours on this ONE THING! Searching on
websites (including support.microsoft) and such...

New developments... (I just posted) when I reloaded a ghost image onto
another drive... the missing DATA is on the older setup up... can't
fix what is already "problematic".

Here is what i'VE Just done... A thought hit me. With the OLD load
of Windows98 - perfect condition (just as screwed up as before hehe),
nothing was in the calender pretty much 1months into past.

Now, I had a thought... I turned BIOS Feb 2003.... and guess what?

Outlook2000 shows everything from there and into the present (have
confermed if the data is 100% accurate... I am sleepy please excuse
typing) but it includes Jan 03... but Dec02 and beyond... gone. Or
more accurately... not DISPLAYED.

So I gather this isn't really Errors, but some sort of Setting in
Outlook2000 that I am not seeing?

Going to bed.. get a few hours before I start the next day - its
going to be painful, but perhaps with a few hrs sleep, my head will
stop hurting. :(

Man, Im glad I kept these ghost files... :)

I usually make them once a month or so.
