HELP - Disk crash

J

John Davies

My hard drive that has all my Frontpage files on it is slowly dying.

I published the newest version of the website a few days ago, so the
website is current. I'm just missing the local files.

Is there any way to "reverse-publish' a website other than copying all
individual files by hand?

Yes, if the remote site has the FP extensions, then use File Menu | Open Web / Site and enter the
http://www.yourdomain.com and then your login info, then Click Ok, Open, then do File Menu | Publish
Web / Site and enter c:\mywebsite

In that case, I would rapidly take a full backup and
then, just as rapidly, replace the disk.

Well, it partially worked.

I get the root down OK, then it pauses for a long time on processing web
updates

Finally I get

An Error occurred accessing your web files. Authors - if authoring
against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this server's
site. Webmasters - please see the server's system log for more details.

I'm running FP 2000 and can upgrade to the newest version if that would
help.

I think that I have most of the website backed up to tape, and the files
that I managed to download should complete the set. But still, I'd like
to be able to do the download if possible.

Thanks,
John

At least his drive is slowly dying...they usually go out with a bang, and on a Friday night just before you're headed to the airport for that important business meeting :)
