Help! Does anyone from Microsoft read this Forum?

P

Pat mcNamara

It seems that lots of questions go unanswered, unless someone with the same
complaint does.

Where is Microsoft? Does no one with knowledge or authority to act on these
problems pay attention?

And, since the Search function doesn't work, it makes it even more difficult
to find any answers other that by browsing through them all.

Unbelievable!

Help! Where can we go for help from Microsoft on Groove issues?

Pat -
I recall in the old Groove forums (under groove.net), most of the queries
were answered by Groove employees and also the Groove partners (Ashok, Mark
Smith and myself). Much has changed after the Microsoft acquisition but I am
quite certain support is present even though the product is very new to
Microsofties.
Post away and perhaps, the old Groove guys can carry on with their help for
the Groove community.

Hi Pat, SB.

I too am puzzled by Microsoft's approach to Groove support. I fully
understand the peer-support nature of these forums, but I'm surprised that
Microsoft (or the remains of the Groove team) is happy to let the level of
confusion apparent here go uncorrected.

There are/were some support people being paid by Microsoft, based somewhere
in the far east (my guess based on their posting times), though they've not
been around for at least a month. GWON also seems to be very knowledgeable in
a "I've got access to non-public stuff" kind of way.

Mark and SB, thanks for your replies and continuing to volunteer support as
"old Groove guys."

Isn't there some way we can get the word to Ray Ozzie about this dismal
treatment of his creation and loyal Groove customers?

I decided to see what I could find in the MS Knowledge Base, and found this
location for Groove: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=ph;en-us;11630 --
not much there, and certainly no support, unless you are willing to pay $99
to send an email or $249 to wait for response on a phone call!

Maybe we'll just have to start calling Microsoft in Redmond and asking for
Ray Ozzie -- from the Yellow Book, two phone numbers that look like they
might be main numbers are: 425-882-8080 and 513-339-2800.

even we veterans are lost today re reporting serious errors in 2007 - and i
have lots - i think we need to open channels directly with Laura Greer at
Beverly / groove support - we have her contact and she knows some of us
personally and has always appreciated inputs.

I have also contacted David Scult (President) who has now moved to seattle.
He may be able to bring together partners / users and MS support into some
type of cohesive unit - we really need to kick out the bugs if we are going
to trust groove for enterprise level work.

Hi all,
I love quizzes , but only if they are essay questions. ;->

The answer of course, imho, is none of the above. Many of us on the product
team read the forums, or search through it for specific items, but generally
we don't (we can't) keep up with the volume of questions that come in on a
case by case basis. We rely on a few things to make this work: 1) a great
group of knowledgeable experts that chip in to help where they can, 2)
scaleable solutions, such as the knowledgebase, 3) and paid solutions, such
as the $249 support incidents.

I'll be at TechEd next month. If you are going to be there, come to the
Groove sessions and introduce yourself. I'm interested to hear about how we
can build this community and tackle the growing pains together.

I think that a lot of the former Groove folks now in various parts of
Microsoft are a bit overwhelmed by the myriad forums used internally and
externally, and to echo Abbott's comments, we have a hard time keeping up
with the demand.
For example, I just now learned about this forum. That said, I'll try to
keep abreast of the questions, and provide answers as I can, and I'll spread
the word.
