HELP!! FP Won't Publish Anymore

W

Woodsrunner

Using FP2K2. Last week changed a few files and added a couple more.
Published them with no problems. This week updated a few more files, and
FP WON'T publish them.

When I try to publish FP lists the correct address in the Publish To
address bar, but when I click Publish an error window pops up telling me
there's no site at that address.

Haven't made any changes to my computer, my account on the hosting server,
or any other changes except editing the files I'm not trying to "publish".
Host support says they have made no changes either.

Any ideas on what would make FP2K2 suddenly unresponsive?

I'd run the "tools/ detect and repair"(in FrontPage) then have your host
check the file extensions on the site.

Ask the host people to reinstall the extensions. They do crash
sometimes without there having been made any intentional changes.

Sometimes reinstalling the extensions is not enough and they still do
not work. I have seen this happen 2 or 3 times. It was fixed by
deleting the site (host company) and recreating a blank site. With
extensions, of course. The full site was then uploaded.

Make sure you have a back-up of the full site including guest book
files, etc if applicable.

Tried the Help -> Detect/Repair. Tells me to put in FP disk. When I do it
says it can't find the FP.MSI file it needs. It's a legitimate,
non-pirated, original FP disk.

Isn't it wonderful? People spend their hard earned money keeping "flake
boy" super rich, and the only support you can find (without paying an arm
and a leg) for his "loaded with bugs and errors junk" is from other
consumers!!!!!!!!!!

pport says they have made no changes either.

Have you tried exploring the CD to try to find the FP.msi file?

That said, I don't think the problem is with your FP install. It is
not "unresponsive". It comes back with a message saying that there is
no (FP) site at the given publishing location, i.e. it tried to
publish, but could not publish to that location.

Have the host people reset the FP extensions on the server (see my
other post). And double check the URL your are publishing to.

Yes, I found the file. Then it seemed to be "repairing". Still won't
publish, though. Get same error message.

Going to try getting host to uninstall then reinstall FP Extensions next.

Thanx

Did everything everyone suggested (except starting from a blank site, as
suggested by "somebody"), and still not publishing.

Hate to blank out the site yet. At least the site for now is working. I'm
getting hits, emails, and orders. If I wipe it out, and FP still won't
publish (or re-publish in that case), then I'm out of business entirely.

I'm at my wits end trying to think if anything else could be blocking FP's
publishing routine. Do ya think uninstalling and reinstalling FP locally
might work??

I'm wondering if FP and Outlook Express 6 share any files? It just
occurred to me that I'm able to read newsgroups with OE6, but it won't
reach out to my personal email accounts anymore (where a password is
required). Similar to FP not connecting to my site (where a password is
required). OE6 started refusing connection at the same time FP did.
