Help! I've lost a valuable file!!!

Hi!
I received a Word document as an attachment in an email and opened it in
Windows Mail. Instead of downloading it and then working on it, I opened it,
made changes, saved the changes and then closed the file. When I opened the
document, the changes are not on it! Can I recover the file with the changes
made to it or am I SOL?

SOL, probably
Attachments, when opened and saved will be in a temp folder, and not on the
origonal mail msg, in many cases you cannot access this temp folder to
recover the file (Internet Options, temp folder)
Open the attachment, edit, 'save as' to save to eg Documents folder
