HELP! MS office update engine won't insatll

Help Anyone?
I have office 2000 on Win98SE
I have had to reinstall Word and would like to update for security reasons.
I try to scan for updates on the MS engine here

The scan aborts with a page that says I must “Install the Office Update
Installation Engineâ€

I follow the instructions there but this achieves nothing

Nothing there works either, so I search for updates manually as instructed

But, not understanding everything that comes up, I don’t understand…
(1)Do I just install everything?
(2)Can anyone suggest how to sort out the “Office update installation engine�
I tried installing the updater by another route and got the message that the
service already exists!
