Help needed on resizing a table and resizing a Pasted object

Jennifer

I know that this seems simple. How do I resize a table
created in Word while maintaining "Ratio to Aspect"? I
can find this option when resizing pictures, but not when
resizing a table in a Word document. I need to make the
table smaller to allow for more text above and below the
table. Also, when pasting in a chart from Excel, how can
that chart be resized to fit on only one page? I have two
rows on the next page and can not seem to get them
together on the first page by resizing.

I appreciate your help.

Tables are not objects. The only way you can make one smaller in one piece
is to Copy, Paste Special as Picture, then size. Otherwise you need to
change the size of the text in the table, the space (if any) before/after
the paragraphs in the table, the row height (if it's set to At Least or
Exactly), etc.

Jennifer,
You could use the tiny little box in the far right hand corner of the table
(not when you are in normal mode though), when you move the cursor over it
two little arrows appear, just drag and you will resize the whole table
according to your movement.
Hope this meets your requirements.

Answer:

If I understand you correctly, for starters, if you have a
style applied to the table, you can change the Spacing,
After to 0 found under Paragraph, or, if direct applied
attributes to table, place cursor inside table, simply
click on toolbar Format, Paragraph, and confirm Spacing,
After is 0. Also, the row height can be adjusted. Right
click mouse inside of table, Table Properties, Row, then
adjust Specify height, for example, 0.17 and Row height
is, Exactly. This will partially reduce the amount of
space used. Good luck.
