Help Please - Minimize Page

T

T

Good Morning,

I am using Microsoft Word 2002. Many times I would like to have more than
one page to work on. However, there is no minimize button on any of the
pages I open when I attempt to do that. I must use the Close Window "X" to
see my second, or additional, page and then of course re-open the previous
page to continue working on that.

Am I missing something obvious here? I have attempted to seek the answer in
options, but to no avail.

Thank you,

T

Hi T,

As far as I know, the only way to see more than one page
within the same document at a time is to use Print
Preview, then select the number of pages you want to show
by clicking on the Multiple Pages button. I could be
wrong about this, but hope it helps!

By default Word 2002 uses a single document interface thus each document
appears to have its own version of Word. Minimize the whole window.
or
Select the document you want to work on from the Window menu.

You can change the interface with tools > options > view > uncheck windows
in taskbar - but frankly I don't see where this would help, and this mode is
not as useful when you run Windows XP which manages the taskbar better than
earlier operating systems.

It's possible there is some misunderstanding of terms and concepts here.
What you are opening and closing (and should be able to minimize) is a
window. Each window in Word 2002 represents a single document (not a page);
the window control buttons (which include Minimize) are for the document. If
you want a single document to have more than one page, then you must either
(a) fill the first page with text or graphics so that it runs over to a new
page or (b) insert a manual page break. It is possible to see and edit two
pages side by side in Print Layout view if you choose Two Pages from the
Zoom menu.

If you want to be able to view two windows side by side, then choose Arrange
All from the Window menu in Word (this puts two or more documents one above
the other) and drag the windows to the desired size and shape. There is a
new option in Word 2003 to "Compare [two documents] side by side," but I
don't believe this was available in Word 2002.

Marie: Try the options under View-Zoom to view multiple pages in page layout or print layout view. :)

Thank you all for the assistance. Between all of the responses, I was able
to solve my problem.

Happy Easter,
