Help, printing preferences keep disappearing

M

MJ

Hi

When printing from PPT the preferences do not seem to be holding, it has
been defaulting to grayscale when this happens we loose most the text on the
document.

I have gone under options/print/Default print settings for this document.
Checked the radio button, use the following print settings
Print What: Slides
Color/grayscale: color

What can be done to set the preferences so that it does not default to
grayscale?

Thank you
MJ

What version of PowerPoint are you using? In PowerPoint 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003
you can go to Tools > Options > Print and set the default settings for the
*current* presentation. However, the settings are presentation specific.

oops we are using 2003.
I have done that, and it still defaults back to grayscale when we print.

Using the same presentation on the same system, have you done the following in a
single session?

1. opened PowerPoint
2. opened the presentation file
3. gone to Tools > Options > Print
4. checked "Use the following print settings" and set "Print what" to Slides,
and "Color/grayscale" to Color
5. gone to File > Print and ensured that it is set to "Print what" = Slides

Is the Print dialog still saying Grayscale in the box labeled "Colo/grayscale"?

This works for me, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you.

Not positive about this, but I think the print will default to grayscale if
your default printer is a black and white printer.

It just started acting up in the last few weeks. Before it would default to
color and if we wanted grayscale we would have to choose it.

Yes, I have gone through those steps and it does not hold. The print dialog
says grayscale. I save the file, I have tried closing and reopening it and
nothing seems to be working, it always goes back to grayscale.
