Help! PS2003 won't respond to Proj Pro,but will to PWA

Hi Folks,
I've gotten into a bit of a jam... Whenever any of our users attempt to
connect to PS 2003 they get a pop-up indicating "Unexpected server response"
which then goes on to report a HTTP error 405 in an IE window.

I was working in IIS 6.0 Manager when it crashed, and I fear my IIS config
is corrupt! We can all access the data via PWA, but none of us can get into
Project Pro 2003.

Any suggestions on what IIS settings could result in this? I also noticed
that typing http://<servername>/projectserver/ now produces the following
error:
HTTP Error 403

:(

My other Project Server problems seem minor now...

A bit more information....

When I remote into the server, and check in IIS mgr, the Default Web Site,
and SharePoint Central both seem to function correctly. I can get the
clients running IE to view pages fine in PWA, but there's something about the
ProjectServer virtual directory that is 'wrong'.

Can anyone point me to an online reference on configuring IIS6.0 with
Project Server 2003? The MS docs don't really cover it in any great detail.

Thanks,

Rich

Spoke too soon... Project Professional still won't connect!!! Everything on
the webside of things works perfectly now, but no luck with Pro.

Rich;

We had a simlar situtation, I'm sure you have checked this, but by default
the Project Pro uses project server authentication.

Yup... in the end (opened case with MS), it was permissions on a DLL in the
MSADC folder (msadcs.dll). How it got change - that still baffles me!

Hi Richard,

What level of security did you have to put on the dll / how? I've run into
the same issues, stumbled upon the MS fix for all asp login files but still
haven't resolved the problem.

Thanks!

Richard:

Can you tell me more about how you fixed this? Last week someone was
experimenting with some things on the test server that hosts our evaluation
instance of Project Server and hosed things up. The people responsibile
returned security settings to the original state. Like you, that returned the
PWA to full access, but I still cannot connect with Project Pro 2003 and get
the 405 Invalid Verb error message.

Any help would be appreciated!
