Help! Reformatting! Need to back up entire Outlook

G

Gloria

Please help! My boss is having all of our computers reformatted and I need
to back up Outlook Contacts, and Outlook Calendar. I have autoarchived but I
do not trust this once everything is wiped clean and I may be left clueless.
I need specific directions how to accomplish a complete save on a cd, so that
I can just import it once the reformat is finished. I'm using XP with
Outlook 2002.

Gloria,
try this; in outlook go to FILE/ then either IMPORT/EXPORT or BACKUP (i do
not have outlook 2002 any more and i am not sure if BACKup is there or not)
if it is not just use the IMPORT/EXPORT. once you have selected IMPORT/EXPORT
, select EXPORT TO A FILE in the window that opens. hit next. then select
PERSONAL FILE FOLDER (.pst) in that window. select next. then either select
the folder you want to back up or if you want to save everything , hi-light
the root folder then put a check in the INCLUDE SUBFOLDERS box and hit next.
in the window that opens you need to either type the path to a folder where
you want to save the info or select BROWSE and go to the folder that you want
to save the files in. once you have selected the EXPORT TO FOLDER just hit
FINISH. a copy of your files should be saved in the folder you selected, with
the (.pst) extension. then you can burn that folder on to a CD. if this does
not work try and get in contact with me and i'll try and walk you through it.

Good luck
Stephen

It is far batter simply to copy and reuse your Outlook Data file.
Importing and exporting will only lose data.

That would depend on your Outlook version and operating system.
Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
