help understanding mdw files!

Hello all, I have a 2003 database that is installed on a 2003 server that
does not have Office installed on it (installed on the individual computers)
The database I installed does not have any security but yet it asks for the
user ID and password. When I look on the server I show a RM.mdw but no
System.mdw. If I take this database off of the server and on to the
individual desktop it still asks for the password, If I move it to my laptop
it works fine...What am I missing or not understanding? Thanks.

Access user level security is *always* on. Whatever workgroup (mdw file)
you're joined to when you open *any* Jet db file, if the admin user has a
password assigned, you'll be prompted for your user name and password.

Join an unsecured workgroup on your pc. The default system.mdw file
shouldn't have an admin password assigned, so you won't be prompted.
