Help w/minor change- Outlook 2000

Uncle Vinnie

I'd like to make a minor change.. using Outlook 2000, Workgroup setting, and
Windows XP...

When checking for mail, 2 dialog windows pop up- one for each of the mail
boxes it checks.. 'checking for mail'.. is there a way to set it up to have
a small dialog box, as Internet only has on the lower right corner?

Also, when it does find new email, another dialog box pops up 'Do you want
read new mail'?... Is there a way to disable that as well.. a small envelope
in the tray is sufficient..

Thank you!

I do not have an answer to your first question but should be able to help
with your second question. Here are the steps to turn off the New Mail
notification prompt:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to Tools -> Options.
3. On the Preferences tab, Click E-mail Options and Deselect the "Display a
notification message when new mail arrives" check box.
4. Click OK twice.

Now send a test message to yourself and the box should not be displayed.

I hope this information is helpful.

Great.. thank you...
One oddity - is it normal when you hit 'send/receive', outgoing still
remains in the outbox? I thought when you do that it would send everything
in there... (outside of the time setting..)

Usually when message does not send from the Outbox it is a corrupt message
or there is something wrong with the Outbox. Try deleting any messages that
are stuck in the Outbox and recreate them and send them again. If that does
not work then I would try creating a new .pst file.
