HELP with characters/symbols

i apologize if this is the wrong forum for this question.
i'm looking for the character set that includes those tiny numbers
that go on top of the line margin that authors use to indicate
references. i've found 1 or 2 but they only go up to 3 whereas i need
1-9. i desperately need to insert these.
any ideas?

You may not find a full set in most fonts, but you can superscript any
number in any font: Format | Font: Superscript or use the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl+Shift+=.
