Help with External Dependencies in MS Project 2002 Standard

Hello! I'm trying to link tasks / external dependencies from different
projects and I've tried the "Help" guide in Project but am getting the
following error message: "You can not create links to projects that are
stored on a Web server and you can not insert projects from a Web Server"

Can anyone provide insight? Help!

Where are your files stored? If they are stored on SharePoint or another web
based server you can't do external links or Project inserts.

Thanks for your response - yes, indeed I found out that the files are stored
on a web server...my next step is to transfer the files to a shared network
drive and try creating/monitoring external dependencies from there - hope
this move will work!
